An Edmond police officer is accused of getting drunk and naked at Lake Arcadia.

Prosecutors charged officer Colter Morey with outraging public decency on Tuesday.

The state's case against Morey is the culmination of a two-month investigation.

"We immediately began a criminal investigation," Edmond police spokeswoman Jenny Wagnon said.

On July 23, Morey was on a boat with friends in an area of Lake Arcadia known as "Boater's Beach" or "Party Cove," investigators said.

According to court records, one witness reported that Morey was "intoxicated enough to get naked and run around the cove."

During questioning, Morey responded to the complaint by explaining he was just swapping swimsuits with his friends.

He claimed the water covered his private parts.

However, investigators said all of the witnesses verified the initial complaint filed against Morey.

Witnesses stated Morey exposed himself, boarded another man's boat uninvited, and said things such as  "I'm Edmond PD, I can do what I want."

Morey is also accused of snapping photos of other boat owners tags and threatening to run those tags.

Court records show he repeatedly said, "I'm an Edmond police officer, you don't want to mess with me."

Morey denied the allegations, offered to take a polygraph, and turned over his cellphone for forensic search.

Investigators said he never ran the tags.

However, records show he sent and received texts from friends that referenced him exposing himself while at the lake.

Morey was charged with a criminal misdemeanor.

Court records indicate the witnesses did not want to testify against the officer because they did not want to ruin anyone's life.

Many stated they filed the complaints because they were concerned Morey's his alleged behavior would make other officers look bad.

"Officer Morey is on paid administrative leave and an internal affairs investigation within the Edmond Police Department is underway," Wagnon said.

The internal affairs investigation could take a few weeks to complete.

News 9 made several attempts to reach Morey. He did not get back with News 9 in time for this report.
