OKC Man Accused Of Manufacturing, Distributing Child Porn

A six month-long investigation ended with an Oklahoma City man arrested for making and possessing child pornography.  

Luis Rodriguez Verona was booked into Oklahoma County jail on Friday.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force has a team of over 120 members in Oklahoma who search the Web looking for just this type of thing. 

In this case, an Edmond detective discovered child pornography images being shared and traced the IP address to Verona's apartment.   

According to neighbors, Verona was living in the apartment on SW 59 Street with a woman and a couple of children. He likely had no idea he was the subject of an undercover investigation until early Friday morning.

“I heard the police banging on the door three times and nobody answered and then they finally broke into the door,” said Bianca Ramirez, who lives nearby.

Once inside, task force members searched Verona's computer and cell phone and found more than they had expected.

“When we got there, when we were searching through his cell phone we saw that there was actually some child pornography that matched the bedroom inside that apartment,” said Jenny Wagnon, with the Edmond Police Department. “He did admit to officers there that he had been making child pornography in that apartment.”

According to court papers, inside the apartment investigators found "hundreds of images" of "child pornography photos and videos of prepubescent females between the ages of 6 and 12 years."

Police say they did identify one victim but there could be more.

“Especially living in an apartment complex, there might be someone who could come forward and say they had contact,” said Wagnon. 

And that's just the kind of thing that Ramirez, who lives nearby is worried about.

“It’s kind of scary,” she said.

The Internet crimes against children task force has made 424 arrests in the last 5 years.

Verona is facing charges of aggravated possession of child porn, violation of the Computer Crimes Act, distribution of child porn, lewd acts with a child, and manufacturing child porn.

Police said he is undocumented and ICE will take custody if he bonds out of jail.
