For many of us, a yearly trip to the state fair is a tradition, but for a family with a special needs child, the outing can be difficult.

That's where a crew from EMSA stepped in on Wednesday.

SaNiyah Maddox, 10, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was a just baby. She also has a seizure disorder and a host of other medical issues.

“We normally don’t get to come out because we got a lot of hassle, lot of baggage but they’re helping us,” SaNiyah's mom Tiffany Maddox said.

For SaNiyah's little brother Trey, seeing his sister loaded up in an ambulance has become a scary thing. Wednesday's outing will hopefully change that.

The whole family will get to ride and the destination is just about the exact opposite of the hospital: the state fair.

The whole trip, courtesy of EMSA and a couple paramedics.

“Obviously our primary job is 911 or emergency calls. So anytime we get to change it up and instead of coming to someone’s worst day we’re coming to one of their best days,” said EMSA paramedic Peter Radford.

An EMSA spokesperson said they do these types a trips a couple times of year an holidays or for special occasions.
