The first thing many Mid-K Beauty Supply customers said they notice when they walked into the Oklahoma City store is the attention to security.
Management at the beauty store said the need for security is tied to a longstanding problem with shoplifting.
Until recently, none of the thefts were violent.
Last month, a woman attempted to exit the store with $12 worth of fake eyelashes, according to Oklahoma City police reports.
A frustrated manager followed her outside to confront her before she pepper sprayed him.
Oklahoma City police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said the manager “had a camera in his hand and was taking pictures of her ended up getting an excellent photo of her holding a can of pepper spray just as she was preparing to spray him with it.”
A Mid-K customer didn't want to give her name but had a lot to say about the assault and the efforts of staff.
"They’re trying to run a business. They’re trying to run a business to feed their families. They have that right just like all of us do to take care of themselves. So when someone infringes upon their rights, they have the right to take action,” the customer said.
Police say they believe they have identified the woman in the picture.
