The neighborhoods surrounding Santa Fe High School in Edmond are full of working class families and plenty of kids.

But one former substitute teacher who lives in the area has many residents feeling uncomfortable.

Heather Diane Lytle was charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

“(She's) not someone who you think would be doing that to kids," Edmond resident Mandy Hamilton said. "She just looked super friendly.”

Friendly enough to pass multiple background checks dating back to 2006 through Edmond Public Schools.

Lytle worked several positions there in the past including cafeteria worker, teaching assistant and most recently substitute teacher.

The current charges date back to April, when Lytle was inappropriately texting two male students through Snapchat about buying marijuana, according to case documents.

“I don’t like drugs at all and the fact that just two doors down my could’ve been getting it, if they were really snooping,” Hamilton said.

But police said that was just the beginning of the relationship Lytle had with the two students.

According to court records, investigators found several suggestive text messages where Lytle asked one of the students, "…which is the better feeling: having sex? or getting high?"

One of the students also reportedly told investigators, "at some point in the past she asked him about kissing him. He told her it would be like kissing his mom."

Edmond Public Schools said Lytle isn't currently employed by EPS and won't be in the future.
