San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was trying to make a statement when he sat through the National Anthem in last weekend's pre-season game.

While his teammates all stood, he made a statement all right.

What he said after the game was this: "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color."

And he went on to say: "There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

With his disrespectful actions and words he's saying that we, the American people, are turning our backs on, simply overlooking wrongdoing by police officers.

Have you not seen a newscast or picked up a newspaper, Colin?

You're late to the game pardner, we're all painfully aware there are still racial problems we have to overcome.

Police officers are working harder than ever to reach out to their communities and Kaepernick's comments undermine what they're trying to accomplish.

And by the way, I'm pretty sure Colin Kaepernick's not the best poster child for American oppression.

Where else in the world would a company pay $12 million dollars a year to a barely average employee?

So get off the bench, respect the flag so many sacrificed for and become part of the solution rather than a spoiled millionaire malcontent.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
