Firefighters battled a house fire Sunday evening in northwest Oklahoma City, authorities reported.

The fire happened about 6:55 p.m. in the 1000 block of Harris Avenue.

The grandson of the homeowner called 911 after hearing a popping noise coming from an electrical socket, Oklahoma City fire Battalion Chief Sean Cobb said.

Firefighters think the fire started as an electrical fire that quickly made its way up into the attic. Everyone was outside of the home when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters were able to rescue a dog from the home and were able to safely secure two cats inside a part of the home that was not affected by the fire.

The estimated damage for the home is about $20,000.
