Discoloration in the town’s water system has prompted residents of Holdenville in Hughes County, to contact News 9. They sent photos of what appears to be brownish water.
The President of Holdenville’s City Council said the city knows there is an issue, and they are trying to fix it.
A Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Spokesperson said tests done to the water Tuesday, August 9, presented no public health concerns.
But residents like Peggy Brown disagree.
“We have to bathe in it, wash our clothes in it. They turn brown. I mean, I’d like to know what’s going on with it. We pay a high water bill in this town,” she said.
