It was a show of appreciation for a metro military family. Wednesday morning, Eckrich, Operation Homefront and Crest Foods surprised the Roden family with a shopping spree for $5,000 in free groceries.

Amanda Roden said her husband is on disability. She stays at home to help him and take care of the kids. So this is huge for their family.

“It definitely means not worrying about food for a while. They go back to school next Friday and we've been trying to slowly get their school supplies. It will definitely help, opening up that money, not having to spend it on groceries,” Amanda Roden said.

Eckrich said the surprise is part of their nation-wide campaign to honor, thank, and support military families.
