While many of us have been following the career choices made by the Thunder's two biggest stars, a choice made by another Thunder star kind of puts it all in perspective.

His decision wasn't based on who he wants to hang out with, or where he has a better chance to win a trophy or make more millions.

This Thunder player had to choose between principle and family; his homeland and his faith.

We know Enes Kanter as a Stache Bro with Steven Adams, and a real cut up on Twitter.

But Kanter, from Turkey, is also a devout follower of an exiled Turkish Imam living in Pennsylvania for the last 16 years.

Fethullah Gulen, has been described as promoting a tolerant Islam, but has basically been declared an enemy of the state in Turkey.

Turkey's president claims, but Gulen denies, that he fomented a recent coup attempt in Turkey.

Kanter's family in Turkey has now disowned Enes for supporting the Imam, going as far as sending a written apology to the Turkish government and President Recep Erdogan saying they're ashamed of their son.

Kanter responded on his Twitter account, which is blocked in Turkey, by saying: "Today, I lost my mother, father, brothers and sisters, my family and all my relatives. My own father asked me to change my surname."

But he went on to say he trades it all to support Gulen.

A Thunder star disowned by his family, getting death threats; perspective.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
