As temperatures rise, so do the number of air conditioner breakdowns. But there are a few things you can do to keep your A/C running properly all summer long.
Avoiding these mistakes can save you a lot of money in the long run. The first mistake most people make is not changing our air filters.
Experts say you should replace them once every three months. Not doing this can lead to poor air flow and can cause your bill to be five to ten percent higher.
Next, consider buying a thermostat you can program. This allows you to raise the temperature while you're not at home, so your A/C isn't running all the time.
Third, put those ceiling fans to work. Keeping cool air circulating throughout your home reduces strain on your A/C system.
Just be sure they're turning counter-clockwise to get the best flow of air.
It's also important to make sure you get your system serviced on a regular basis by a trained technician.
