The Dodgers took full advantage of playing at home in Oklahoma City as they kicked off their four-game home series with an 8-5 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs.

The Dodgers (56-42) won a third straight game overall and won for the seventh time in their last eight games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Oklahoma City built a 3-0 lead by the second inning and never trailed in front of a crowd of 9,524.

The Dodgers scored the game’s first run in the first inning after loading the bases. O’Koyea Dickson then grounded into a double play that brought home Micah Johnson for a 1-0 Dodgers lead.

Brandon Hicks led off the bottom of the second inning with a single before James Ramsey and Alex Hassan drew back-to-back walks to load the bases again for Oklahoma City. Dodgers starting pitcher Seth Frankoff struck out on a missed bunt. Then with one out, Johnson hit a fly ball deep to left field that bounced off the wall for a two-run single and 3-0 Dodgers lead.

New Orleans’ Carlos Corporan led off the third inning with a solo home run into the Zephyrs’ bullpen in right-center field to cut OKC’s lead to 3-1.

Will Venable entered the game as a pinch hitter for Oklahoma City in the third inning and lined a two-run single into right field for a 5-1 Dodgers lead.

Corey Brown homered in the fourth inning to right-center field to boost the Dodgers to a 6-1 advantage. The homer was Brown’s 13th of the season and the seventh homer in the last five games for Oklahoma City.

The Zephyrs (46-51) added four runs in the sixth inning to cut into the Dodgers lead.

Pedro Ciriaco and Austin Nola led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Xavier Scruggs followed with a ground-rule double and Ciriaco scored to cut OKC’s lead to 6-2. Destin Hood followed with a two-run single to chop Oklahoma City’s lead to 6-4. The Zephyrs added another run on a groundout by Corporan to cut the Dodgers’ lead to one run.

The Dodgers loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth inning with none out. Shawn Zarraga and Hicks each struck out before James Ramsey hit a two-run single for an 8-5 advantage.

Frankoff made a spot start for the Dodgers, allowing one run and one hit over 3.0 innings with two strikeouts. Reliever Ralston Cash (1-0) earned the win for Oklahoma City, holding the Zephyrs hitless and scoreless over 1.1 innings.

Zephyrs starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie (6-7) was charged with the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) and six hits. He issued five walks and one strikeout.
