While Governor Fallin is expected to speak Thursday night ahead of Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention (RNC,) Wednesday night's speaker and Oklahoma oil man Harold Hamm is now reportedly being eyed by Trump.

Reuters reports Trump is considering Hamm for Energy Secretary if Trump is elected president.

The move would actually make Hamm the first U.S. Energy Secretary selected straight from the oil and gas industry since the cabinet position was created in 1977.

In his speech at the RNC, the CEO of Continental Resources said Hillary Clinton would eliminate fossil fuel development in the U.S., while Trump would embrace energy independence and get rid of foreign oil.

As many as four sources confirmed the rumor to Reuters, one saying that Hamm has been an informal adviser to Trump on energy policy since at least May.

However, representatives for Trump and Hamm have not commented.
