The Thunder has rescinded its $6.7 million qualifying offer to guard Dion Waiters according to multiple reports. The Monday signing of shooting guard Alex Abrines made it extremely unlikely Oklahoma City would be able to match an offer on Waiters.

Not re-signing Waiters protects the Thunder’s 2017 cap space and Yahoo Sports submits the goal is to lock up Russell Westbrook and convince fellow 2017 free agent Blake Griffin to join the Thunder.

Only Enes Kanter and Kyle Singler are on the books beyond next season. Cam Payne, Mitch McGary and Josh Huestis have team options on their deals and rookie Domantas Sabonis has yet to sign.
