Neighbors in a new subdivision are on high alert after a home invasion led to shots fired.

A resident and a suspect both went to the hospital and one suspect is still on the run.

Police say it started when a homeowner called 911 saying at least two people broke into the home near NW 36th St. and Morgan Rd. News 9 is told there was a struggle over a gun and shots were fired.

Neighbors say this is a relatively new, close-knit neighborhood. But people we've talked to say they're now thinking of starting a neighborhood watch program.

"The turnover, I mean people move in and out, so we get to know each other pretty quickly," said Jessica Davis. "Between when I came home and got out of the shower, all this happened so it was really crazy."

Davis says young girls live in the home next door, but police say they were not hurt during the incident.
