Police have identified a man who was shot dead after a domestic disturbance in southwest Oklahoma City.

According to police, at about 1:19 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the report of a fight in the 3300 block of S.W. 49th. When they arrived, they heard a gunshot from inside of the home.

As officers entered the home, they found one person, later identified as 38-year-old Anthony Alexander, dead.

Police said it appears that Alexander became involved in an altercation with a woman. During the altercation, Zimmerick Britton, 20, interceded and at some point, the two men began fighting over a gun. During the fight, Alexander was shot and killed.

Police have not arrested anyone. The case will be presented to the Oklahoma County District Attorney who will determine if any charges are appropriate.

Alexander's death was Oklahoma City's 36th homicide of 2016, according to police.
