A body found Saturday morning near a Duncan creek has been positively identified as a missing 8-year-old boy, the medical examiner's office said.

Damion Davidson was a non-verbal autistic child who wandered away in the early hours of June 12 from his home in the 1400 block of N 7 Street.

The medical examiner's office determined Damion's cause of death as a drowning and the manner of his death as an accident.

Authorities searched the area for two weeks before finding the body. Police said they were confident it was Damion based on the visual recognition and the description of his underwear.

Damion went missing from his home the same day as when Duncan saw heavy rains and flooding.
