A Texas attorney says Friday could be a dangerous day on roads across the country. It's all because of an international crackdown on commercial trucking known as "International Roadcheck."

Law enforcement agencies in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada spent the last three days stopping trucks, inspecting them and taking the most dangerous out of service. However, some say because truckers know when "International Roadcheck" happens, the worst offenders stay off the road on what's called a "Roadcheck Vacation."

A Texas attorney is among many who believe the highways are actually more dangerous right after the trucking crackdown, as those who stayed off the road try to make up for lost time.

"So, they're driving distances that are illegal.  They are driving hours that are illegal." said Steve Laird, Attorney.

Despite his warning, safety inspectors say they don't think a large number of drivers take part in "Roadcheck Vacation."
