Dodgers Mauled By Grizzlies In Fresno

The Fresno Grizzlies scored in six of eight innings and were led by former OKC RedHawk Matt Duffy’s two home runs in a 14-3 rout of the Oklahoma City Dodgers Tuesday night at Chukchansi Park.

After scoring seven runs over the final four innings of Monday night’s game, the Grizzlies (19-25) piled up 14 runs and 16 hits, including three home runs and a total of eight extra-base hits. The 14 runs marked a new season high allowed by the Dodgers, and the most runs OKC has allowed since also surrendering 14 against Fresno on June 1, 2015 at home in a 14-1 defeat. At one point, the Grizzlies scored 21 runs over 11 innings between Monday and Tuesday night.

With the loss, the Dodgers (24-18) have now dropped three straight and lost consecutive road games for the first time since April 13-14 in Memphis.

One day after the Grizzlies scored eight runs with two outs, Fresno was it again in the first inning. With two on and two out, Duffy homered to center field to give the Grizzlies an early 3-0 lead.

Duffy came up next in the third inning and homered for the second time out to center field, as his two-run shot off the batter’s eye made it 5-0. It was Duffy’s first multi-homer game since going deep three times for the RedHawks on June 9, 2014 against Salt Lake at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Max Stassi added a RBI single later in the third inning to push Fresno’s lead to 6-0.

The Dodgers got on the board in the top of the fourth. Corey Brown stole second base with two outs, and the swipe paid dividends, as James Ramsey singled to home Brown to make it 6-1.

However, the Grizzlies got the run right back in the bottom of the inning on a RBI single by Danny Worth.

Fresno piled on four more runs in the fifth inning, including a two-run double by Jon Singleton. RBI doubles by Stassi and Nolan Fontana followed in the sixth inning.

Singleton finished the scoring for the Grizzlies with a solo shot in the seventh. Through the first two games of the series, Singleton is 5-for-8 with three homers, two doubles, and seven RBI.

Alex Hassan and Zach Walters drove in runs for OKC in the sixth and eighth innings, respectively. Ramsey was the only Dodger to have a multi-hit game, finishing 2-for-4. Austin Barnes drew three walks.

Making a spot start for the Grizzlies, Cesar Valdez held the Dodgers to one run and two hits over five innings. Valdez (2-0) struck out five and walked two.

Coming off his best start of the season, Sam LeCure allowed career highs with both nine runs and 11 hits over 4.2 innings. LeCure (2-2) issued two walks and notched six strikeouts.
