A quick-thinking metro man snapped photos of burglars before they took off with his belongings. Edmond police say those pictures now hold the key to solving this case.

It was by chance Ross Roberts caught the thieving duo in the act. On Tuesday, he came home early from work and found someone else's SUV parked in the drive and his front door pried open.

“I stepped out looked through the window and about that time a guy came out of the front door and saw me then turned around and ran back in,” said Ross Roberts.

Two men, Roberts had never seen before, walked out of his home.

“I got my phone out and I started fiddling with it you know. I was getting the camera ready to go and they thought I was calling 911,” Roberts said.

Instead, Roberts snapped three incriminating pictures.

“They started getting pushy with me trying to block the camera,” he said.

But he managed to grab several clear shots of the duo and their getaway SUV.

“In this case, the pictures that he took are probably going to be the key piece here to us figuring out who it was because now we can see. We have a good picture of the vehicle and great pictures of the suspects,” said Jenny Wagnon, Edmond Police.

To police, the photos Roberts took are invaluable, but what the thieves took from Roberts is priceless.

Several pairs of custom boots are now missing from Roberts’ collection. Each valued at roughly $1,200 a pair. Also missing, an engraved Winchester receiver from a rifle Robert left on his desk.

Police are looking for a green Ford excursion with a Texas tag on the back of the car. If you recognize the men in the photos call your local authorities.
