Parra Named Pitcher Of The Year, Six Bison Players On All-GAC Teams

Oklahoma Baptist’s Jinny Parra headlined a group of six Bison baseball players selected to the All-Great American Conference team, it was announced Thursday.

Parra, a junior from Jacagua Medio, Dominican Republic, earned GAC Pitcher of the Year honors.

Brandon Cuddy was a unanimous selection for First-Team, where he was joined by Parra and Ryan Joyce. The GAC coaches selected Nathan Thompson and Felipe Gonzalez for the Second Team and Hunter Heath was placed as Honorable Mention.

Parra was 10-3 on the regular season with a 2.41 earned run average. He struck out 86 batters in 93.1 innings of work, holding the opponents to a .190 batting average. He was first in the GAC in wins, second in opponent batting average and fourth in strikeouts.

Cuddy, a senior first baseman from Tulsa, batted a league-best .385 with 10 home runs and 53 runs batted in. He also led the GAC with a .710 slugging percentage, a .495 on-base percentage and 21 doubles. His 10 home runs ties him for sixth in the league. His RBI total is third in the GAC.

Joyce, a senior center fielder from Lake Forest, California, hit .320 with 13 home runs and 48 RBI. He finished third in the GAC in home runs and third in slugging at .687.

Thompson, a senior pitcher from Santa Ynez, California, was 7-3 with a 2.96 earned run average. He led the GAC with 103 strikeouts in 82 innings and held opponents to a .218 batting average.

Gonzalez, a senior designated hitter from Santa Ynez, California, batted .319 with six home runs and 32 runs batted in.

Heath, a junior from Shawnee, batted .341 with 10 home runs and 49 RBI. He was tied for sixth in home runs and fifth in RBI.
