A Midwest City woman is recovering after a double shooting. It happened inside a home in Ardmore, where another man was also shot.

The news about the crime traveled fast to the metro.

“I was in shock,” said Alicia Andrews, a friend of the victim, 34-year-old Jennifer George Alexander. “I just couldn't even believe it when I was reading it.”

Through texts and phone calls, friends and family learned Alexander narrowly survived a shooting.

“You never really think something like that could happen to anyone you know or let alone in your family,” said Justin Curling, Alexander’s brother-in-law.

According to family, on April 4, Alexander was visiting her Erik Tucker, 35, when the two were shot in the face inside an Ardmore home. Tucker died and Alexander was flown to a nearby hospital.

Days later, police initially arrested Joshua Scott on outstanding warrants for burglary, but later charged him in the double shooting.

The mother of two returned home to Midwest City following three surgeries, including one to reconstruct her nose.

“She's in really good spirits, she's doing good, as good as she can do, just its devastating,” said Amber Curling, Alexander’s sister.

“We just thought we gotta do something to help with the bills and anything she may need,” said Andrews.

Inside CoffeeOkie in Nicoma Park, Alexander's community pulled together and held a silent auction in her honor, with all of items donated by local businesses and friends.

“I'm so proud of our community and the people that I know and I grew up with that we have all done this for her,” said Andrews.

“People that she went to school with some of them, haven't talked to them in years and everybody comes out of the woodwork and it's all for a good cause to show support, it's amazing,” said Justin Curling.

Police haven't released a motive for the shooting but Alexander's family said she didn't know the suspect.

“It was just a really unlucky situation and tragic but it's just a miracle she's still with us,” said Andrews.

Two others were inside the home at the time of the shooting; one of them was arrested on drug charges.

As for Alexander, she still has several surgeries ahead of her. If you would like to help, contact CoffeeOkie.
