A young disabled child’s life was shattered earlier this week when her most-prized possession was stolen.

Baylee Harris, 11, is legally blind, and deals with other physical issues daily.  She and her 8-year-old brother Blake, and their family moved into a Southeast Oklahoma City apartment complex last November after the family’s home in Norman was foreclosed on.

Baylee’s mother says she lost the family home because an unscrupulous contractor ran off with more than $10,000, intended for roof repairs. And now, she says a thief ran off with her daughter’s bike sometime last weekend.

“It kills me. Especially you know you do everything you can for your kids, and for somebody to be that low to do that, that’s very sad,” she said.

Immediately after the story aired on News 9 at 10 p.m., several viewers called in to say they would donate to get Baylee a new bike.
