Kevin Durant sat out Tuesday’s loss to Detroit but he didn’t hold back when asked about former teammate Reggie Jackson’s celebrations in the final minute.

“It was bush league in my opinion,” said Durant, who had 34 points and 13 rebounds when the teams met earlier in the season, a 103-87 Thunder win.

“Jumping up and down, running around. I understand you’re happy you won the game but our whole team didn’t play. We’d beat the hell out of them if we did. I don’t like to talk like that but it pissed me off. What can I do about it? Some guys are who they are.”

Serge Ibaka was also held out of the game.

Russell Westbrook was on the court, however, and he was the first to comment on Jackson’s taunting in postgame interviews.

“Honestly, I think that was some real bull----. I don’t appreciate it for our team and our organization. I don’t like it at all, but you know, it is what it is. We’ll see him down the line. We’ll take care of that when we get there.”

Jackson knew what he was doing when he ran down the sideline waving his hands in the air in front of his former teammates. Celebrations against one’s former team is the ultimate sign of disrespect in every sport on the planet.

That said, it’s great plotline for NBA writers and fans. Too often athletes give boring, stale answers in efforts to avoid criticism or the spotlight. Durant is one of the best quotes in the NBA when he wants to be. The next Thunder-Pistons matchup will be a doozy.
