OHP Identifies Driver Killed After Crashing Into Semi On Turner Turnpike

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) has identified a man killed after he crashed his car into a semi-truck on the Turner Turnpike near Luther, Oklahoma, Thursday afternoon.

It happened just before 3 p.m. on the Turner Turnpike eastbound at mile marker 139.9 in Oklahoma City.

According to the OHP, the semi-truck and the car were both going eastbound on the turnpike, when the semi accelerated from the outside shoulder into the outside lane. The car, driven by 25-year-old Joshua C. Taylor of Luther, then struck the semi in the rear.

Both vehicles came to rest on the outside shoulder. Taylor was pinned inside his car for an unknown amount of time before being extricated by Oklahoma City firefighters using the hurst tool.

Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene from head injuries. The semi-truck driver, 26-year-old Byron E. Harkley of Ellenwood, Georgia, and his passenger were not injured.

Taylor’s condition at the time of the collision is under investigation. Harkley’s condition was apparently normal. The cause of the collision is under investigation, according to the OHP.

All three involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
