In a stunning twist, Midwest City Police release the 911 call in a deadly shooting involving an 18-year-old and her ex-boyfriend. Initially the teen told authorities she shot and killed her ex-boyfriend, but now police say she is not the one who pulled the trigger.

It happened early Thursday morning in the 9600 block of Willow Wind Dr. in Midwest City.

Dispatch: "911. Is this a medical emergency?"

Caller: "Yes. I need you over here quick. My boyfriend just busted down my window. He pulled out a gun, and he started waving it, and he hit me. So I shot him."

But that's not exactly what happened. Isaiah Orange, 21, was shot, but not by his 18-year-old girlfriend, heard in the 911 call.

"She was concerned about retaliation,” Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said.

Police said they became suspicious when they couldn't find the gun used to kill Orange, and brought the girl in for questioning. That's when she told them someone else fired the weapon.

"She had a new boyfriend, and his name was Alex Brown,” Clabes said. “He'd come over to her house earlier that evening and had dinner with her and was staying in the bedroom with her when she heard a loud noise which woke her up."

Police say Orange then burst into the bedroom with a gun and started physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend, and Brown stepped in.

"Orange is assaulting her and pointing the gun at Brown he said, 'I'm in fear of my life. I think he's going to kill both of us.' So he pulls his gun out from under the pillow and fires several shots,” Clabes said.

Brown then left, and the girl ran across the street and called for help. MWC Police believe the two were protecting themselves and committed no crime.

"Orange committed first-degree burglary at one o’clock in the morning, armed with a handgun, to enter that house to commit crime, and the crime was domestic violence, and possibly he could have killed both of those individuals, but he was shot first,” Clabes said.

News 9 spoke with the 18-year-old victim who declined an interview. We also spoke with Brown’s attorney, Toney Coleman.

“After visiting with authorities, it was determined my client’s actions were justified, and it is my sincere belief the district attorney will concur with those findings,” Coleman said.
