A new healthcare initiative claims it would broaden state healthcare coverage, and provide hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for the state.

Wednesday, The Oklahoma Hospital Association introduced what it calls “MakeOKbetter”. They say it would expand Medicaid, and would provide affordable healthcare to the one in six Oklahoma residents who currently don’t have access to it.

Supporters say it would so provide a large amount of revenue for a state that is right now 1.3 billion dollars in the red.

“It would bring a billion dollars in direct expenditures, two billion dollars a year in economic impact, 24,000 jobs,” said Senate Democratic leader John Sparks.

The Governor’s office told News 9 it hadn’t seen the proposal, but would look at it if and when it is proposed to state lawmakers.
