Ever been charged for a medical procedure you did not get? You wouldn't be the only one, and it looks like it might not be accidental.

Roughly one out of every three Americans had their health care records compromised, and most have no idea. Last year alone, health care record hacking was up 11,000 percent. To put that into perspective, that's some 100 million health care records stolen.

These stolen hospital hard drives give criminals a wealth of personal information. that end up being sold on the "dark web." Stolen social security numbers can go for about $15, but complete health care records are a gold mine and can go for around $60 each.

Experts say the stolen information gives criminals the ability to order prescriptions, pay for treatments and surgery and even file false tax returns.

Experts say to avoid getting hacked: Use strong passwords, pin codes for IRS returns, and don't give out your social to hospitals or doctors’ offices.
