The mayor of Midwest City will face another election in April in his battle to keep his job.

Mayor Dee Collins faced three challengers in Tuesday's recall election, brought on by the city's police and fire unions.

Collins will advance to the general election, even though he didn't receive a majority of votes, according to the Oklahoma County election board.

The Midwest City charter allows the mayor to advance and face the top vote-getting challenger, Oklahoma County election board secretary Doug Sanderson said.

Retired police officer Matthew Dukes received 56 percent of the vote, Collins got 35 percent. Charles Thompson received 6 percent and Mark DeShazo got 3 percent.

Now, Collins and Dukes will face off again in April at the general election.
