Freshman phenom Jawun Evans and Oklahoma State host No. 3 Kansas tonight in a game that looks fairly one-sided on paper.

Kansas (15-2, 4-1) boasts the nation’s sixth best offensive unit that averages 85.8 points per game and shoots a blistering 44.9 percent from three-point range. The Cowboys (9-8, 1-4) have lost four-straight Big 12 games and at 70.1 points per contest rank next-to-last in the conference.

The game won’t be played on paper though; the 6:00 p.m. CT tipoff will take place on the white maple of Eddie Sutton court inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. And, for the Jayhawks, that means trouble.

For all Travis Ford’s failings, he’s been Kansas kryptonite. Ford’s teams have beaten the Jayhawks at home each of the past two seasons and the Cowboys are the only ones who’ve beaten Kansas the past three years. Only OSU and Iowa State have beaten Kansas four times since 2008-09.

The last seven meetings between these two have resulted in a difference of three points, with Kansas holding a 499-496 advantage.

Senior Perry Ellis leads KU in scoring at 15.9 per game and junior Wayne Selden adds 14.9. Point guard Frank Mason is third in the Big 12 in assists at 5.2 per game.

Evans leads Oklahoma State in scoring (12.4) and assists (4.9) and it’s no secret what happened the last time he took the floor in GIA. One week ago he nearly overcame No. 2 Oklahoma by himself when he poured in an OSU-freshman record 42 points to go with 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the 2-point Bedlam loss.

Senior Jeff Newberry adds 11.3 points per game and junior Leyton Hammonds upped his scoring average to double figures (10.3) with an 18-point outing on Saturday in Austin.
