A metro mother's wallet was taken during a trip to an area Walmart. Now, she's dealing with the cost of someone else's shopping spree, but that's not what has her upset.

Jennifer Taylor's son was killed in 2009 after he was hit by a moving truck while crossing the street in Moore. There was something special from her son in that wallet, and it's the only thing she wants back.

It was a last minute stop at a Newcastle Walmart Sunday night.

“And an hour later, realized I didn’t have my wallet, so I pulled it up on the little GPS device,” Taylor said.

It sent her right back to Walmart.

“And we could hear it beeping, and then it quit,” Taylor said.

And the signal faded.

The wallet was gone, and police said two suspects, a man and a woman, had already started racking up charges on Taylor's credit cards. More than $600 in a couple of hours.

But that's not Taylor's concern.

“It’s not just a drawing and a note, it’s about something that was very significant in our lives at the time, and he gave it to me on the way to school,” she said.

At just 7 years old during a rough time in Taylor's life, she said her son wrote that note and drew a picture that touched her.

It's been in her wallet for more than 12 years.

“I feel like I’ve had a piece of my son taken away again,” she said. “And I know it’s just a piece of paper, but it’s just so significant to me.”

Now, she's hoping that somehow, someway, she can get it back.

“I don’t care if they threw it in a dumpster or in a parking lot and just called and said, hey this is where it’s at. I don’t care if the note was getting really faded and it was starting to come apart,” Taylor said. “I don’t care if it has trash stains on it, or if it’s not all together there. I just want a part of it back. I need it back.”

News 9 was told Newcastle police are still reviewing surveillance video to try and get a description of the suspects.
