Oklahoma City put together a late-game rally, but came up just short as the Thunder lost to the Knicks 93-90 inside of Chesapeake Energy Arena and drop to 7-6 overall.

Russell Westbrook totaled 34 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while Carmelo Anthony led the way for New York with 25 points.

It was a rough shooting night for the Thunder as they only hit 3-of-29 three-point attempts, while the Knicks shot the money ball at a 60 percent clip.

New York held a 16-point lead with 8:50 left in the game, but instead of lying down, the Thunder kept fighting back and had cut the New York lead in half before the four minute mark. OKC was still chipping away in the final minutes, but still trailed by six points with 17 seconds left in the game after Carmelo Anthony nailed two clutch free throws.

The game looked to be over, but with Westbrook on your team anything’s possible. The point guard sprinted down the court and nailed a miraculous three-point shot to bring the score within three points with 12 seconds left.

After making the shot, Westbrook contested the ensuing Knicks’ inbound pass and forced a bad pass that went out of bounds. The Thunder had the ball with a chance to tie it with a three-pointer.

Unfortunately for the sold out crowd of Thunder fans, both Westbrook and Dion Waiters missed potential game-tying shot attempts, and the Knicks escaped from Oklahoma City with a narrow win.

Waiters started in place of the injured Kevin Durant, and had a nice game with 16 points and four rebounds. Enes Kanter had another big night in the paint, totaling 11 points and 13 rebounds.

The Thunder will be back in action on Sunday when they host the Mavericks at 6 p.m.
