Two people are dead after a disturbance at a home near El Reno, Canadian County sheriff's office officials said.

About 11 a.m. Saturday, deputies were called out to a property at 4651 Jensen Road East.

The property owner told the two people to stay off his property but the two people arrived anyway, Canadian County Undersheriff Chris West said.

West said the altercation started as an apparent dispute over a vehicle. The property owner told the other individuals they could not come onto his property, but they could send a wrecker to pick it up. The wrecker came, but the two trespassers showed up as well.

The two men assaulted a family member of the property owner, and the property owner was shot by one of the two trespassers when he tried to intervene, West said.

The property owner shot and killed both men after they tried to attack him.

"The property owner told the men to stay off his property, because they had reportedly made threats to kill him just last night," West said Saturday afternoon.

The property owner was critically injured.

No names were released Saturday.

The district attorney's office will determine if any charges will be filed against the property owner.
