Firefighters were called out to the home in the 1900 block of NE 26th St., just to the west of N. MLK Ave., around 1:30 p.m.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Once on scene, firefighters reported seeing smoke and flames shooting from the front and side of the house.
The homeowner safely made it outside and no one else is expected to be inside. Three cats were pulled from the home, but attempts to resuscitate them were unsuccessful.
