An Oklahoma City man and his fiancée were the victims of a violent carjacking during the Friday morning commute, right as they were headed to the airport for an out-of-town trip.

That couple just made a very quick stop the 7-11 at NW 10th and May Ave. for some coffee and some gas. When the woman went in to pay, her fiancé was confronted by a very bold thief.

“There were probably 5 to 7 other people here that all witnessed it happen,” said Jordan Lee, who is still amazed at what took place at the gas pump early Friday morning.

It was just after 5 a.m. on Lee's birthday of all days. And even though the 7-11 is located near a very busy intersection, it did not stop the thief from demanding Jordan's car.

“I thought it was a joke,” said Lee. “So I told him no, and I started laughing.”

But the brazen thief was not joking around.

“At that point he pulled out a knife, and he told me to get out of the car or he was going to stab me,” said Lee.

What struck Lee even more was who the thief was with during the carjacking.

“The driver was a woman and there was a 4-year-old daughter in the back seat,” said Lee.

Lee says while he dealt with the thief, his fiancée called police. He even asked the thief if he could at least grab their luggage so they could still catch their flight.

“The car was not started, so he just told me to hurry up,” said Lee. “I pressed my trunk button, and just ran back to the back - but he handed me my fiancée’s purse.”

The entire thing was captured on the store's surveillance cameras and police will see if it helps them catch the carjacking crook.

“It can happen to anyone anywhere at any time,” said Lee, who now plans to get a conceal carry license. “It would have been a very different outcome had I had that.”

Lee says he and his fiancée managed to make his birthday trip out of town after all, and even got some good news once they arrived. As it turned out, their car had GPS, which helped police track it down within hours of it being taken.

Police did arrest a woman who was driving the car for an outstanding warrant. They say she was just driving the stolen Malibu, and was not part of the carjacking.

Oklahoma City police are still looking for the man who took the couple's car. If you have any information that can help them track him down, you are urged to call OKC Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300.
