A Bethel Acres man now faces first-degree murder charges.
Police said John Joseph Quinter, Jr., 44, gunned down a man in the street last weekend in Pottawatomie County.
Authorities say Quinter shot 35-year-old Robert Dale Almon multiple times in the body and head with a 12-gauge shotgun.
It happened Sept. 20 after the two had an argument outside Quinter's home in the middle of Angie Lane in Bethel Acres.
He reportedly ran to a neighbor after the fight and said he'd shot someone.
But Quinter was not arrested that day as deputies tried to determine if the Stand Your Ground law applied.
But a few days later, first responders would return to that home again.

"He came up behind me and he strangled me, and that's when I blacked out and ended up in the hospital," Daisy Holder said.
Quinter was seen with weapons and an overnight standoff ensued Tuesday.
"They deployed tear gas in the residence. They were able to locate the suspect. He kept saying he was stuck and needed help," Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth said.
The standoff eventually ended with Quinter in cuffs and then booked on a complaint of assault and battery.
