A man arrested following a 7-hour standoff in Bethel Acres, Oklahoma, Tuesday morning, is likely the suspect in a deadly shooting that happened over the weekend, according to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's office.
At about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, a viewer called News 9 to report that there was a possible standoff situation at a home, located at E W 118th and Angie Lane in Bethel Acres.
The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old John Quinter. Officers originally arrived at his house to serve a warrant for assault and battery, after Quinter reportedly choked a woman.
Quinter was eventually taken into custody at about 7:30 a.m. following a standoff. Officers said they found about 150 pounds of explosives inside the home.
According to Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth, the standoff happened at the same home where a deadly shooting took place over the weekend. They believe Quinter is the shooter in that homicide.
