My 2 Cents: Ahmed Mohamed's Clock

We have become a society that rushes to judgment first and then gathers the facts. Classic example: 14-year-old Ahmed Mohammed in Irving, Texas.

We have become a society that rushes to judgment first and then gathers the facts. Classic example: 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed in Irving, Texas.

Ahmed is the student who brought the components of a clock to school inside a rather suspicious looking case.

Suspicious looking enough that if he'd taken it to the airport, the TSA would have taken him down and cleared the terminal.

But in an overreaction of political correctness, prominent people jumped to his defense and criticized the school district and police who took Ahmed into custody until they could figure out what was going on.

President Barack Obama has invited him to the White House.

What you might not have heard is that, according to Irving police, Ahmed was passive aggressive with them as they questioned him, and didn't offer an explanation for why he brought the device to school, until after some time saying he built it and was going to show it to a teacher.

Now, other scientists who've looked at it, say it looks like an old Radio Shack alarm clock he simply took out of it's original case and stuck in a silver brief case, that he built nothing really.

So why would he do that?

His motivations might have been pure, or he might have been hoping to stir up controversy which has certainly happened.

Sit tight, all the facts are not in yet.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
