No one was injured after a school bus' rear axle came off Friday morning in northwest Oklahoma City.

An Oklahoma City Public Schools District's school bus was blocking northbound traffic on May Avenue at 63rd Street after losing its rear axle, according to police.

Seven students were aboard the school bus at the time. Police said no one was injured. Crews were able to clear the scene.

Mark Myers with the OKCPS calls it a "freak incident." He said the bus was involved in an accident in January, 2015. The District has taken it back to the dealer in El Reno, because it is still under warranty. He said the U-bolt failed, causing the back axle to fall off during a turn.  A repairman will check to see if that failure has anything to do with previous repairs.

This bus is one of 15 new buses in the district. All the buses by this manufacturer have been pulled until further notice, according to Myers.

The bus driver complained of knee pain and she was taken to the hospital to be checked out. None of the other kids complained of injuries.

There is surveillance video on the bus, but Myers said it will not be released at this time. The district still needs to review it.

Myers said all OKCPS buses are regularly inspected, and that he believes it was a manufacturing defect.
