Darnell Sweeney hit a RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to secure the ninth walk-off win of the season for the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 2-1, against the Tacoma Rainiers Monday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The teams combined for seven scoreless innings before breaking through in the eighth inning in front of a crowd of 3,772.

The Dodgers (74-48) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jose Peraza led off with a single and advanced to second base on a groundout by Corey Seager. Peraza then scored on a RBI single by Andy Wilkins.

The lead was short-lived as Tacoma’s Jabari Blash homered in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game, 1-1, on what was just the second hit of the night for the Rainiers (57-66).

In the bottom of the frame, Jose Tabata led off with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by O’Koyea Dickson. Elliot Johnson entered the game as a pinch runner for Tabata before Shawn Zarraga struck out swinging for the second out of the inning.

Sweeney then hit a RBI single on a fly ball to right field to bring home Johnson for the win.

The Dodgers outhit the Rainiers, 11-2, as they took a 2-1 lead in the series.

Dodgers starting pitcher Eric Surkamp held Tacoma hitless and scoreless through five innings before allowing a double in the sixth inning. That hit was the only one allowed by Surkamp, who held the Rainiers scoreless through seven innings. He issued one walk and recorded five strikeouts.

Adam Liberatore pitched a scoreless eighth for Oklahoma City before Juan Gonzalez entered the game in the top of the ninth. Gonzalez (2-1) got the win and was also charged with his second blown save of the season, allowing one run and one hit.

Tacoma pitcher Jose Ramirez (1-1) entered the game in the ninth inning and was charged with the loss for the Rainiers.

The Dodgers conclude their series against the Rainiers at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
