Woman Accused Of Leaving Elderly Patient In Feces and Urine

A woman was found lying in dried feces and urine in the place that was supposed to care for her.

Now, a caretaker is accused of neglect. Charges were filed by the state attorney general's office, and the caretaker was taken to jail.

“It was the evening shift nurse who found her this way and began asking questions,” Assistant Attorney General Mykel Fry said.

It was those questions that led to an investigation that eventually put Kendra Scott, a certified nurse’s aide at Warr Acres Nursing Center, in jail.

“It was at some point during the daytime shift that she just was neglected,” Fry said. “She just was not seen at all.”

Scott worked the day shift, and the bed-bound female resident was supposed to be in her care. Court documents state she was subjected "potential infection from prolonged exposure to feces and urine."

“The victim had lain in this state for long enough that the odor and the condition became very apparent by the nighttime staff,” Fry said.

The Warr Acres Nursing Center told News 9 Scott worked there seven months and was fired four days after the incident was reported and after an internal investigation. The state attorney general's office picked up the case, and Scott is charged with neglect by a caretaker.

“I think it’s every citizen’s, every person’s nightmare that when you hear about ‘I don’t want to go to a nursing home,’ it’s because of this,” Fry said.

There is also civil case against the Warr Acres Nursing Home alleging similar neglect, but it is not related to this case.
