Three juveniles were killed and two critically injured in a high-speed wreck during a police pursuit in Leflore County. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the deadly wreck took place around 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Latham Road just west of Shady Point.

No names have been released because all of the people involved are under 18. All went to school in Panama, according to KFSM-Fort Smith.

Troopers say a Shady Point police officer tried to make a traffic stop on Highway 59, and the 17-year-old boy driving a Chevy pickup fled onto the county road. Speeds reportedly reached 90 mph before the teen lost control and ran into a tree.

The driver, a 14-year-old male passenger and 15-year-old female passenger were killed. Two other passengers, both 17-year-old males, were flown to a hospital in critical condition.

OHP Lieutenant David Storts told KFSM open containers of alcohol were found in the truck. Authorities are investigating how the teens got the alcohol and expect to make an arrest, he said.
