An Oklahoma woman was rewarded when she stayed up late to watch the Perseid meteor shower Wednesday night.

LaGena Gamble said she snapped a photo of a meteor from her home in Rose, Oklahoma, a small community in Mayes County.

Gamble said she took the photo at 3:45 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015 using an HD Pro camera.

She shared the photo on the News On 6 Facebook page.

"I saw two more that looked like Roman candles but couldn't get to them quick enough. It was in a word: amazing," she wrote.

She said she used no filters and did not enhance the image in any way.

"Missed two others that had bright blue on their tails," she said.

Astronomers predicted the annual Perseid meteor shower would be better this year than most because the moon wouldn't be lightening the sky. The also said the peak, which they predicted to be 3 a.m. Thursday morning Central time, would mean perfect viewing for Oklahoma.
