A chilling 911 call in Enid details a machete attack in an otherwise quiet neighborhood.

Police Dispatchers got the first call at 9:32 a.m. Friday, to get to a house in the 1100 block of Nottingham.

Police said a 45-year-old man who was drunk, attacked both of his parents with a machete.  The 911 call made by the man’s mother indicated he was angry with his parents because they wouldn’t give him his car keys.

Both parents suffered minor injuries during the attack, before the attacker’s father shot him in the stomach with a 22 caliber gun.  He is in Integris Bass Baptist Medical Center in critical condition.

Devon Schafer lives next door. “They’re good people and they’re trying to help their son.  And it’s the kind of thing that happens when alcohol gets involved, and people aren’t themselves,” he said.

Enid Police Captain Jack Morris said the investigation will continue. “I know the family is extremely upset because I believe they are all a close family,” he said.
