An end of era, as Capitol Hill High School gets ready to auction off all things "Redskins.”

The school recently dropped the controversial mascot. Now, everything is in a warehouse, and there are hundreds of items.

Changing the mascot was a battle from the beginning, but the "Red Wolves" are in and the race is on to get rid of anything baring that "Redskins" logo.

For auctioneer Robert Hawks, this upcoming auction will be a first of its kind for him. And his family has been in the auctioneering business since the early 1930's!

“We’ve sold excess school stuff for several years, but not just the uniforms,” said Hawks.

And never in his 30 plus years has he auctioned off hundreds of old school uniforms because of a controversial mascot change.

We’ve probably got 4 or 500 items, because we’ve got 40 of this, 20 of that, 60 of this, so we’ll be selling in individual lots, and group, and dealer lots,” said Hawks.

Because Oklahoma City Public Schools says everything branded with the old mascot must go.

“From the football, baseball, basketball, softball, track, lady redskins uniforms,” said Hawks. “We’ve got the baseball redskins uniforms here, and they’ve got the Nike logo. Just do it. Come to the auction, just do it. Just buy it.”

There are even seat cushions along with dozens of backpacks and athletic duffle bags.

The district has partnered with Robert's company to make it happen. Alumnae from across country are expected to show up.

They have told us they want to come back and buy their football jersey, I want to buy my basketball jersey, I want to buy my baseball uniform. I said come on back,” said Hawks.

As far as price range, “The sky is the limit,” said Hawks. “We’ll show several items, we’ll sell those till we get done, then we’ll do the next group, then the next group.”

The auction is Saturday August 8th inside the Capitol Hill High School cafeteria.

Registration begins at 8:15 a.m., and the auction kicks off at 10 a.m.
