Three people, including the gunman, are dead after a shooting at a movie theater in Lafayette, La., during Thursday evening showing, CBS News affiliate KLFY reports.
Louisiana State Police tell CBS News there are "a number of injuries" but the extent is unknown. They say the shooter situation is no longer active. Brian David, a spokesman for the Louisiana State Police said several of the injured were being transported to local hospitals.
The identity of the shooter has not been released.
Lafayette Police said they received a call of a shooting at the Grand Theater at about 7:30 p.m. When they entered the theater, they were able to neutralized the shooter, according to Jim Craft, Lafayette Police Chief.
Multiple injuries were also reported by the Lafayette Daily Advertiser, but the severity of the injuries was unclear. There was no confirmation that a suspect was in custody.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said he was monitoring the situation.
