An Oklahoma City man was arrested after being caught using a hidden cell phone to record activity in the bathroom of his home on the southeast side of the metro.

Police were notified of the alleged crime in early July. The victim told police she was living at the home, which belonged to the suspect 29-year-old Bruce Williams and his wife, while her husband was deployed with the military overseas.

The victim told police she was fully clothed at the time she discovered the phone, but said she lived at the home with her three children as well, and was concerned the recordings may have been going on longer without her knowledge.

According to the report, the victim told police on July 6 she woke up just before 6 a.m. to get ready for work. She said Williams was coming out of the bathroom as she was going in. As she was brushing her teeth, the victim said an alarm started to go off. The sound was not coming from her phone, and after looking around, she noticed that it was coming from a floor vent.

The victim said she pried open the vent and discovered a phone, which she knew belonged to Williams, propped up with some pieces of cardboard, facing the bathtub and toilet. The phone was on and recording and when the victim tried to view what had been recorded, she said she saw a partial image of Williams placing the phone in the vent and positioning it.

After removing the phone from the vent, the victim told police she placed it on the kitchen counter, so that Williams would see it and know that she knew what he had done. Williams then took the phone off the counter but did not speak to the victim before he left for work.

The victim then spoke with Williams’ wife about what had happened. Later that night, with Williams’ wife and the victim’s stepfather, the three confronted Williams about the incident. According to the report, Williams admitted to what he had done and stated that it was the only time. He turned his phone over to them while he was being confronted, but all of the videos on his phone had been deleted.

Williams then left the home, but the victim told police that he kept texting her while he was gone, saying he was sorry and begging she not contact police. The victim also said that Williams’ wife also pleaded with her not to get the police involved.

Police were eventually contacted and although the video had been deleted and there was no evidence on the phone showing that any video had ever been taken, officers felt there was enough probable cause to place Williams under arrest.

The case remains under investigation.
