It's just the middle of July, and we are already seeing back to school commercials and displays in the metro.

According to America's Research Group, 58 percent of parents said they will buy only the bare essentials to start the school year and finish during the winter holidays. That's because most shoppers feel back to school deals aren't what they used to be.

Consumer Pulse said Parents with kids in kindergarten through 12th grade plan to spend around $873 per child. The spending jumps to $1,100 for parents with kids heading to college.

Wal-Mart, Amazon and Best Buy are the top stores for back to school supplies according to that survey.

Here are some quick ways to save according to U.S. News & Report, don't buy what you don't need.Go through last year's supplies and see what can be re-used. Make sure you grab your child's list from their school and check it twice.

If you want to avoid the lines at the stores, you might be able to find deals online.

If you really want to save, Oklahoma will have a tax free weekend on clothing. That will be on August 7 through the 9th.
