Oklahoma City police have identified a man who was shot and killed after he pointed a gun at officers in the air and on the ground Saturday afternoon.

According to police, just after 3 p.m., officers responded to multiple 911 calls to the apartment complex at 4205 S.E. 54th. The calls stated a man with a gun was walking around vehicles in the parking lot.

Officers on the call requested air support, which was provided by OKCPD helicopter Air 1. When officers arrived at the complex, a witness pointed out the suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Robert Elando Manlone, to the officers.

According to police, Malone immediately began to run northbound on the west side of the complex. Air 1 located Malone and followed him from the air. That’s when Malone raised a gun in the direction of Air 1.

Police said the officer then fired in the direction of Malone. Malone pointed his gun at the direction of officers. Two officers then discharged their weapons at Malone striking him. Malone was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The two officers, 12-year veteran Sgt. Edward D. Mosier and 13-year veteran Sgt. Joey Laughead, have been placed on administrative leave pending the completion of a complete investigation into the shooting.
