Oklahoma City Police are investigating a brazen home break-in Friday morning.  The victim works in local law enforcement, and his dog may have foiled the burglary.

A neighbor’s surveillance video recorded a black sedan pulling up to the home in a far Northeast Oklahoma City neighborhood just before 10:00 a.m.  The suspect broke down the front door, but left the house empty-handed four minutes later.

Just after the burglar left, the victim’s dog, which is a shepherd-Husky mix named “Diesel” also ran out of the house.  His owner—the burglary victim—led a dozen people from the neighborhood on a search for the dog, that lasted about six hours Friday.   He found his dog just before 4 p.m. near a creek bed about a mile from his house.

“People go to work you know, to make an honest living,” he said. “You should be expected to leave your stuff at your house.  The fact people do this to others is despicable.”

Diesel was covered with burrs and ticks when his owner found him.  He also had dried blood on his snout and on his neck.

Oklahoma City Police are investigating the break in.
